Have come accross a few of these things, hubby is a computer terrorist and downloads
every spy-ware out there. I have found the best way to deal with it, and it may be
painful the first time....
Re-format the hard drive, and then keep the system backed up and clean. Don't click
on pop-ups, only close them by right-clicking on the toolbar at the bottom of the
screen.
I use Ad-aware, Avast Free Viruse scanner, Partition Magic and Norton Ghost 2003
on my system and any system I clean for friends. With a little bit of time invested
in setting up the system, and 20 min a month, I can restore my system in 10 min without
losing anything more than a few new favorites and pictures.
It took me 4 hours of trying to uninstall, repair the changes to the registry, viruse
scanning, rebooting....
to give up and reformat anyway. My advice is save the headache and back up your pictures,
favorites, email addresses and documents onto a CD or DVD so you don't lose them
and start from scratch, and don't fall for any of the fake warnings in future. lol
