Microsoft does offer a CD for "Windows Vista beta 2." Cost is $6.00. The retail verison will not be out until January 2007 or there abouts. Make sure your version is the X86 version. Not too many folks can use the 64 version. I used the download method and initially had the same problem you have. turns out I downloaded the X64 and I needed to download the X84.
