hi there,
i had the same problem with my PC and i know for a fact its nothing to do with the
power of your PC has i have an FX55 an 2GB ram 500GB hard disk and SLI'd graphics
cards which in a word is 'sweet'.
So I then realised it even existed when i switched my hard drives back around so
that i was running XP again. If you look in you event logs you should find errors
called 'downshifting'.
So it must be a bios problem. Im not sure as yet what Vista does to the bios but
its funky. I eventually solved the problem by hardware reseting my bios, so not just
by choosing the optimized defaults or top performance or whatever. I had to take
the pin out of my motherboard that connects the battery (or you could just take out
the battery start up your machine without it then, shut down and put the battery
back in again ) this then solved the problem. Hope this helps and microsoft find
a solution as i want to be able to run a dual boot system.
