Epson scanner driver problem

I have a Epson Perfection 1250 Photo scanner, and I cannot get the driver to install
in Windows Bista beta2 build 5384. When I try to install from the original disc,
the installation stops in the middle of the install. I got a tip from Yahoo Answers,
to copy the files from the original disc to a hard disk and install from there. Then
the software installed, but not the twain driver. I have tried to download the latest
driver from epson.com, and also different versions of the twain, with no result whatsoever.
I just can't get my scanner to work wothout the driver. Does anybody else have this
problem, and what is the solution. I had no problem installing the other hardware
I have, nor do I have any problems else with the Vista package. Please suggest anything....
