upgrading vista while writing this

as i write this i am online running vista. However vista is simultaneously being
upgraded in the background, via the downloaded .iso on a DVD. I expect a reboot will
ensue at some point, but i do find performing an upgrade while the OS is active
and file system mounted to be a very linux-like experience. ;-)
what got me started was wanting to install the registration key. I couldn't find
a way to do it offline, and the online registration website isn't working for me.
So i put the DVD in, clicked on the .exe file, and here i am. It prompted me for
the key, and proceeded to update. Go figure.
