You must install the older Windows version first and have it up and running. Do not
install Vista through XP. Do a clean install of Vista on a different partition. Make
sure both partitions are Primary partitions.
No matter what drive letter you use for Vista it will insist it is on drive C and
will rename all your other drive letters when it runs. So if you can install XP on
a drive other than C: and install Vista on C:
Uninstall all traces of other Windows versions from the partition where you expect
to put Vista.
When correctly done on booting up you will get a black screen witrh two lines: Older
version of Windows (your XP) and Windows Vista. Click one of them to run it.
Good luck. It took me weeks to get it right.
