It must be particularly difficult with all the different flavors of Vista being offered.
From what I've read, the variations are much more pronounced than the difference
between WinXP-Pro and WinXP-Home when they were first introduced.

I sympathize [g]. On many technical questions, half the battle seems to be figuring
out where to post the question. (I've been trying to get more information the specs
for GIF image files, because Google's Picasa -- and a number of other image-editing
programs -- won't read a couple of old GIF files that I've downloaded from the web
-- although Firefox, WordPerfect etc. read 'em just fine. After a lot of experimentation,
I figured out myself that reading the files into MS Paint and saving them again (with
no editing changes), would fix whatever was non-standard about the files. I still
haven't been able to find out exactly what the problem was, and I can't find a forum
with graphics experts that might be able to explain further.)

However, everybody has to keep IE if only to be able to download Windows updates,
so if you haven't posted at MozillaZine, you might still give it a try.

I doubt if you could get one that would work properly at this late date. Microsoft
has already "turned off" the beta test program. Assuming you could find some other
beta tester whom you trust who was willing to give you a copy of whatever (s)he downloaded,
there's seems to be a pretty high probability that it wouldn't pass all Microsoft's
activation and verification checks when you tried to install it.

Since you'll need the real thing for customer support anyway, I assume your only
choice is to wait till January and buy it. Otoh, it you posted a query on this Forum
with the title: "Is RC2 still available for download anywhere?", perhaps somebody
else might have a better suggestion.

Good luck!
