I had the exact same problem with USB Devices (Mass Storage and Mice, maybe even
more USB stuff) with Windows Vista Ultimate and got an emergency solution for that:
- plug in
- hit locate and install driver
- if active Windows Update searches stupidly around
- don't have disc (but we have, hehe)
- browse computer
- type to Location: C:\Windows\System32 (I checked subfolders too)
- next
- repeat this for all following stuff (USB-Mass Storage Drivers, Disk Drive, Generic
Volume etc.)
- happy USBing
Yes, how could Microsoft know that the drivers could already exist in the System?
For Flash Drives/USB Discs you have to do this once per PC, for Mice once per USB-Connector
!?!
Anyone know if you can point to default driver search locations via registry or something?
