In Vista you can boot to the DVD, then choose to "repair your computer". In the resulting
menu choose "Command prompt". From there you can run a variety of windows programs,
one of which is the Regedit.exe where you can restore saved registries.
You will get the same graphical interface you get inside windows. So use Regedit
within windows Vista (Just click the Start button, then type "regedit" in the search
line just above the Start button) (The Start button is now refered to as the "Pearl",
by the way), to backup your registry as often as you want. Then use Regedit in the
Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) on the boot of the DVD to restore that backed
up copy.
