In Windows Vista there is a way to work with drives and windows repair and troubleshooting programs without booting windows. The Windows Vista folder will not delete if you are booted into windows XP or Vista, so you need to be in an environment where you can work with the drives before booting into either Windows. ************ The WinRE is the Windows Recovery Environment. It is available on booting to the DVD by doing the following: Boot to the Vista DVD, when you get the first window, click on "next" then in the window that says "install now" look toward the bottom of the window and choose "repair your computer". Once that window stabilizes click on "next" then"command prompt" Now you are in the WinRE. ************ The drive letter of your Vista drive will have changed at this point since you are working from a virtual drive, so you need a way to identify which Windows drive is the Vista one. BEFORE starting anything boot into Win XP, create a text file called whatever you want, such as "This Drive.txt" or something you will remember. Save it in the root of the Vista drive. This will help you identify the Vista drive once in the WinRE. Of course if you have folders of data on that drive you can use them to do the same thing. So, once in the WinRE find that drive by typing the drive letters from D: on up and type "Dir" on each one until you see that you are in the Vista drive. Once there Type "RD \Windows /s" to remoce the windows directory while including the system files (the /s part). Do the same thing for each drive you want to delete such as the "program files" directory and "users" directory. I hope this helps.
