If Vista has feature(s) you desperately need - upgrade. If XP supports all you do - don't yet. If you do upgrade, despite MS claims that upgrade to vista is best yet, I'd still recommend a clean install and set up everything from scratch. There may be problems depending on the software you run, and Vista's much more of a resource hog (hard drive and memory). Basically - I'd suggest most people don't need to upgrade yet (until they start coming out with 'must have' new features, which MS won't support with XP - this will probably start happening over the next year, as part of the strategy to get people to upgrade).
