It's me, Peter under my other screen name. Thanks for answering, at least I know it isn't something stupid that I'm missing. I've been through msconfig; yahoo preferences, etc. all the standard diagnoses and it's all correct in every instance. Maybe it isn't a mistake on their part...maybe they WANT it to behave that way! Yahoo may be more sinister and insidious than we think! Thanks again! Oh BTW, it isn't happening with my XP machine...maybe I'll copy that file and move it to the new one! Of course, Vista gets really cranky about introducing things that aren't tailor made for it.
