I am running Windows Vista Enterprize edition, along with a dual boot of Windows XP Professional. The solution to your problem lies with win xp... in order to dual boot the two you need to have xp installed first. I had this problem too because I RAID 0'ed a my first two hard drives (running vista on these) and planned on booting xp on my third drive. Anyways the 3rd drive was empty and I already had vista loaded on the Raid drive. So I thought that if I just loaded xp onto the empty 3rd drive everything would be ok... this wasnt the case however. Basically I was able to load xp and everything worked great, however it seemed as if vista completely disappeared, I tried everything to get it to boot again... the wierd part was that the two os's were on completely separate drives. Anyways... I guess the Vista boot manager needs to be loaded after the xp one otherwise only xp will load. So I put in my vista disk, repaired my vista load, and now vista worked again, but xp was AWOL... so this was my solution... What I suggest you do is load xp again, get it running, then install vista from within xp (start up xp put your vista disk in, and reinstall vista) you can still save all of your data within vista and the install wizard will allow you to create an image of your old data called windows.old. The downside to this all is that none of your installed applications will work within vista anymore, however you will be able to dual boot now. This is the only solution that has worked for me thus far, but because all of my data was backed up within the windows.old file, all i needed to do was reinstall my programs, drivers and what not, then import whatever application data was stored in my applications so that they were back to the same way they were... its alot of work but if you really need the dual boot between xp and vista I guess this would be worth it.
