I've got a different variant of this problem. The setup is DSL Modem -> Main computer
(Vista + ICS Enabled)-> Crossover cable -> Family computer (XP). The main computer
gets the internet connection just fine with no dropouts like described, however,
the family computer's connection is pretty messed up. There's definately a major
bug in Vista's ICS that prevents me from switching OSes. The family computer may
be able to view outside sites for 5-60 seconds upon physically connected, but afterwards,
even the main computer is unpingable. This is not a wiring issue as switching the
main computer back to XP shows <1ms pings between the local computers. With Vista,
pings vary between 50ms to 2000ms and eventually become 100% dropped. Until MS fixes
(Or a 3rd party figures out the issue and hacks together a fix) this issue, I refuse
to use Vista.
