I have the same issue. I have XP shares on a machine with internal IP 192.168.0.1.

1) I have shares on public folders, root folders, and others.
2) I have opened permissions on the public folders and others to everyone.
3) Both the new Vista Laptop, and the XP desktop are on the workgroup named...what
else...WORKGROUP. 4) I am going wireless from the laptop to a 802.11b router.
5) I can access the shares on the XP box from other wireless laptops.
6) I have removed the Norton Firewall software that came pre-loaded.
7) I have tried with the Vista firewall up and with it down.
8) The network map shows the XP machine I'm trying to reach, and even the network
folder shows that machine at times, but I can never get it to show me the share names.

9) I cannot even Ping the XP machine from the vista machine...this is very strange
since it IS showing up by name in the map.

This is the goofiest thing I've ever seen in 12 years of network programming. I'm
about ready to kill Vista, and install XP Pro.

Thanks for any assistance you can give.

Erik T.
