Hide inactive icons option. is not an option if you want to stop the programs from running.. A PC magazine program called startupcop that works with XP and prsumably Vista as well has better options for completely removing processes the user had no intention of running. Otherwise MSCONFIG typed into RUN allows you to unload these unruly programs from soaking up that VALUABLE Ram in VISTA
