Vista on new box nightmarishly slow.

Hi. I'm in the process of setting up a new box @ home. It's brand new, nothing
installed on it yet, though I'm working getting some printers installed now.

I don't know if this is normal, but this machine is incredibly slow. It reminds
me of the days of running 3.11 on an 386SX.

I've turned off everything I can see that is optional, changed the background to
a solid color, and set all the themes to 'classic.' Still so slow I can barely work.

The box is a 3.0Ghz w/ 1GB of RAM. I'll be bumping up the later soon. Anyone have
any other ideas? The only other Vista box I delt w/ is @ work. It's an older machine,
is painfully slow, but not this bad.

Thanks.
