You should be aware that many games' use a "limited" version of an uninstall that intentionally leaves behind game saves and configuration files. This is more true of recently released games that use your "My Documents" folder's sub-folders for game saves than for older games.

As an example, Bethesda's TES: Oblivion game has an INI file in which the old video card settings would be left behind after an uninstall. When changing video cards for that game (which wouldn't run on a lowly Intel chip, but is a game I know works this way), you just delete the old INI file, and the game's launcher program creates a new one for the new hardware.
