Since I don't have a Vista machine handy at the moment I can't confirm my recollection that this problem only affects the DETAILS folder view, but I am pretty sure that I could select files in XP fashion only when the folder view was thumbnail, list, icons..the ones that I never use. In Details view if I clicked a blank space (not under the Name column) the entire row would be selected across all the columns. Are you saying that this doesn't happen to you?
