IE wont launch in Vista Ultimate

Hello I have a pentium 4 dual 2core computer running vista ultimate. Suddenly IE wont launch..I click on it and nothing happens..firefox runs fine. Also at the same I have lost the copy and paste functions with files I cannot copy a file to another direct or cut and paste it to another directory. Any ideas? Thank you.
