http sessions not going through

Hi
The http sessions through internet explorer do not seem to be going thro. But confirmed
that internet works. I am able to ping to any site. All messengers seem to be connecting.
Able to update the virus updates.
But when i tried browsing thro IE7 it gives me "Internet explorer cannot connect
to the Webpage". I have disabled Firewall and User account Control settings. All
the IE security settings are in the default level. Even tried installing Opera Browser
but of not much use. Gives the same error...
Have i missed to check any other securty setting?
