Sorry guys, I was wrong. The XP driver didn't help in my case. However, I found out
that the culprit was not the driver. An updated TWAIN enabled software allows for
the scanner to initialize, even after several reboots. Phew !
The owners of the Perfection 1250, 1650 and even the 2450 should keep using the
VISTA driver, inmho. The hint not to fiddle with the driver settings still holds.
I am not too sure about the green button programmability, so I'll simply ignore it
for now.
Get a copy of the CD "EPSON Smart Panel", which is sold on NewSoft inc. web site.
The Smart Panel can be minimized as a floating bar, it has a sleek design and features
a comprehensive help file. You may have it started with Windows. The Scan and Save
fonction is what I needed most.
By the way, I recommend the new Perfection V200 for those who are planning to replace
their A4 flatbed scanner. No doubt that EPSON Europe have a weird manner of promoting
their products (and supporting their partners); This said, their imaging devices
simply rock !
Take care,
