Not sure if this will help in any way, but I recently bought a notebook with Vista Home Prem installed on it. It kept showing my wireless connections in the network connections as popped up every time I started up. Yet when I would have it connect it would say there was a problem. I found out days later that I had to install drivers for my router from a CD. I had to get the CD from my ISP, and it is now working perfectly. Maybe that's your problem? I would check with your ISP to make sure though.
