This is an "annoyances" forum, and at least one small aspect of UAC is annoying.
For reasons I do not understand, whenever I start some software packages like Photoshop
CS2 UAC pops up a window asking if I want to run the program. Of course I do...I
use it all the time.
Is there a way to configure UAC so that it recognizes a program as a trusted program
and automatically launches the program without the window popping up?
I have no beef if I am running a program for the first time. However, after 30+
times for the same program the UAC window starts to become annoying.
Now, some programs load just fine without the window appearing. I guess they must
have some kind of UAC compliant signature that tells Vista these programs are OK
and the window is not needed. But, what about pre-Vista software that may not have
such a signature built in?
Like I said...an annoyance, and not a gripe. I reserve my gripes for all of my software
and hardware that will not work with Vista (about 10 important pieces of software
[telling Vista to use it in XP mode has no effect] and two printers...especially
my HP Photosmart P1100 that HP has decided not to update its driver to Vista. Sure,
I can get it to run with other driver profiles, but in the process I loose all of
the control over prints that the XP driver provided.)
