This is my first posting here - I tried searching for answers already posted, but
couldn't find what I needed. Let me apologize in advance if this is duplicating someone
else's questions!
Anyway, around Nov 1 we bought a new HP desktop with Vista. On 12/26 we finally got
Qwest DSL and could start connecting to the internet. Since then, I've had the following
problems:
1. Windows defender and microsoft update are unable to download any updates (I get
error 0x80072ee2 )
2. I can't access any microsoft.com websites ("Page is unable to load" type error)
for help, using either IE7 or Firefox.
3. Norton Internet Security: LiveUpdate was unable to correctly update (error LU1812).
I attempted to completed uninstall ALL Symantec folders/programs from the computer,
in the hopes that these problems were caused by competition b/w NAV and Defender.
4. I can't access avast.com to download that antivirus instead. (to be noted, most
other websites seem to work though - e.g., google.com, wellsfargo.com, cabelas.com,
amazon.com, etc.)
5. I installed Quicken on the new computer, and Quicken is unable to update with
quicken.com. Also, when I try to download financial data from my bank, the data is
unable to make it into quicken for some reason.
I've tried lowering my security settings in IE and Firefox, adding microsoft.com
(etc) to the "safe" websites list, turning OFF the windows defender firewall for
about 5 minutes, etc. I'm at my wits end!
Again, I apologize if this is a silly question, or if it's already been answered
but I can't find the answer on this site, but any help you can give me would be greatly
appreciated!!
