Thank you very much for taking the time to respond and for your excellent suggestion.
I got excited when I went to Services and saw WIA set to Automatic but NOT started.
So I started it and then plugged in my camera, but I got the usual Found New Hardware
message followed by a searh of Windows Update, and then a request for me to insert
my Sony CD. MS Update did not have the driver. On the Sony site I found drivers for
this camera for all operating systems except Vista, along with a note from Sony saying
that Vista can take care of this and no Sony driver is needed. Obviously each is
making assumptions about the other and no one has done the cross-checking. Maybe
I am the first?
In any case, I am out of luck still, but sincerely appreciate your reply.
