Here's how you fix it in Vista:
1. Open Control Panel.
2. Click on Programs and Features.
3. Under Default Programs, click on "Make a fily type always open in a specific program"
which opens the Set Associations option.
4. Select file types you want to change, such as .doc.
5. Change the application to IE. In some cases, like .ppt, you may have to browse.
Now these file types will always open in the browser like your XP friends.
