constant corruption

Having found the way to run chkdsk (see http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/winvista/1199455565) - it only took me 3 months - I now find that this machine seems to generate corrupt file structures on a regular basis (about one or two times a week). While I can now fix the file system (see above), it is annoying, and curious. Any ideas why this might be happening, and what I might do to solve it?
