Hi Dave,

If you have the Vista Enterprise, Ultimate, or Business edition, then you can use 
the Complete PC Backup feature to save everything on your hard drive to either another 
hard drive, partition, or DVD's. This will show you how.

If you do not have one of these editions, then you will need to use a 3rd party backup 
program like Acronis True Image, or manually backup the files you do not want to 
lose.  You can download a 15-day fully functional trial version of Acronis below. 
It should be enough time to do what you are wanting.
