Thanks for your replies. Actually, I’m surprised nobody ever talks about this subject.
Unlike CRT, modern TFT screens are so bright that I for one get eyestrain if I have
to a lot of writing. Trouble is, for all other use, gaming, looking at photos, and
web pages, full brightness is great, it’s just that, like I say, when you suddenly
switch to something like the word processor or a spreadsheet, the brightness is far
too strong , (well, for me anyway), though I guess this only affects home PCs, as
in most workplace computers the brightness is permanently turned down. Still, if
somebody ever comes up with such a program I would among the first to get it!
