This is the Vista forum (!) but as you say I don't think it matters. Almost certainly 
you have an overheating CPU.

Check the airways are unobstructed (by a wall next to the system box for instance) 
clear and dust free, that the fans are working, and that the CPU is properly seated 
on to its heat sink.

Then off to a hardware forum, technical friend or repair shop.
