First I want to apologize for the interruption there. Now, I would look into the "Summary of Administrative Events". In here you open each category with the normal use of the boxed '+' sign. They are nicely listed by:Critical, Error, Warning... Even events happening in your Antivirus should show up. They are neatly listed by: Last hour, 24 hours, and 7 days. This is going to be the friendly view. Also add CheckDisk to you mental discriminator (thought process) while look this up. If you are wise and carefully you can also clean up old junk (don't mess if you don't have a clue) in here. Further down in the 'Log Summary' you can view by date Application and hardware events chronologically. This means you can go back to the the exact moment you experienced this CheckDisk. Finally, how are things running right now. Is the computer otherwise OK? Do you realize that this was a fact of life in WIN 95. I know this is not Win 95 we are talking about but CheckDisk is a check and repair service and it may have said nothing more than "NO ERRORS FOUND". Which is usually the case. You can manually run a CheckDisk now and see if any bad news shows up currently. Find the manufacturer (look in Device Manager) of the hard drive and see if they offer any FREE diagnostic software on-line. That is always a good safety measure if the H/D might be failing. And of course that is what we are worried about. I a glad you noticed the event and want to take normal precautions, but don't let it control your life. The machine does not control you. You control the machine. Don't let it become a monster. If you are scared of losing data, get it copied right away. Let me know how things go.
