Ms has a stated policy in place (and this is Charlie's paraphrase), Any update error that is encountered is dealt with by them "FOR FREE". I had a similar issue and I am running an OEM version (NO SUPPORT), this was before SP1, when they were passing out the prerequisite updates. I was on the phone for 3 hours and he would not let me go till he knew my machine was running correctly. Vista is a departure from anything that MIGHT HAVE been going bad inside MS. I have said it many times, even the Apple owners I know are running Vista as their preferred OS. The only ones not on board are those who still haven't even started betas for drivers or AVs that still think they know better on how MS "should have done it". Also I hate the outsourced help desks, but when I called for my help they guy from INDIA did a pretty good job of speaking and worked well with me! We even talked about fishing over there. MS is not the big mean monster some people want us to believe it is. Let the MS TV add guy tell that to the Apple shrink!
