i want to use password access for my shared resources on a vista system. when i try
to access with guest from an XP system i get an error:

you might not have permission to use this network resource.

Logon failure: System has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer

if i try to login with another account, it works fine. i've explicitly allowed guest
access to a shared folder.
i have set 'restrictanonymous' to 0 in the registry and rebooted, with no luck.

anyone know if it's possible to allow guest logon from network?

the reason i don't want to disable password protection completely is i want to share
some folders with password access, and share some publicly.

thanks.
