How to find text within files

I have looked high and low and have have not yet been able to find a way to find a file containing a certain string.

For example - I want to find any file within a given directory having "mytext" in the document somewhere. In pre-Vista Windows, it was as easy as checking a box. Now... nothing.

I have looked at other sites and have tried all the Tools->Folder Options->Search options and still nothing. I know there is at least one file containing "mytext" since I created it but the "search" finds... nothing.

Why did MS have to screw up a search feature that worked just fine?
