"Sometimes" makes me think there may be a problem with your swap file (pagefile.sys).
Start by checking your disc for bad spots -- chkdsk c: /r. This will take some time, 
run it overnight.
A de-fragment probably won't hurt, especially if pagefile.sys is badly fragmented. 
This may also take some time.
Run the System File Checker (Sfc /Scannow) in case the problem is the actual file, 
not the copy within pagefile.sys.
