Suddenly Cannot Play Video Files?

I must have changed something because now wmv and mpeg files will not play. I get
the message to save to a file first? I have tried Windows Media Files, etc., but
still get the same message. Is there an overall default for Windows Vista to set
it back to it's original setup?
What program works with these types of files?
