Mouse problem

I need help big time.
I have a laptop gateway with vista premium.
All of a sudden my mouse will behave in a very weird way. It feels like the batteries
are going dead but they are not. I can't control where it goes and I have to use
the pad which I have a hard time with.
My mouse is a logitech and I also tried my mouse on another laptop that I have and
it works fine as soon as I put it on mine again same problem. I checked for viruses
adware etc and all seems fine. I also tried my mouse on the other laptop and it works
fine.
Can someone help

P.S. I also did a defrag ....and then out of the blue it starts to work again....HELPPP
