Doooood:
This is the lamest annoyances thread ever. All of this action and not a single solution.
Well great, here's my chance to be a hero and solve your problem. E-mail me and tell
me thanks. Don't waste your time chasing the link provided by the second poster.
It's a 40 page treatise. I have your solution right here in just a few sentences.
(It is a great 40 page article, however).
Here is an article that will solve your problem.
http://www.realtime-vista.com/general/2007/04/access_denied_to_documents_and.htm
Here is some useful info:
* The "Access denied" error message is misleading and wrong. Lack of permission is
not the problem and adjusting the permissions is not the solution.
* The problem is that you are trying to open a folder, but what you are requesting
windows to open for you is not actually a folder. It's a pointer to a folder that
resides elsewhere. If you examine the folder icon you will see that it is dim. That's
Vista telling you that it's not a folder but rather a shortcut.
* You are using your XP knowledge to look for a desired folder, like "send to" in
a familiar location, but Vista has it in a different location. You will need to find
the new Vista location, browse there, and then open the folder there. That's your
solution. The article I linked above gives info on finding various Vista system folders.
Best of luck and let me here from you!!!
