I dont think Vista has anything to do with crackling sound from speakers. I find
that your graphic card is adequate enough. If your sound card is accepted by the
operating system, then its job is done. What quality of output you get depends on
the sound card, its driver and speakers.
2GB of RAM maynot be adequate. I'm guessing that you could be having lot of stuff
on your system with the kind of hardware you got. Maybe excess background processes
from all these softwares is slowing down your system.
