Most ISPs will have support pages telling you how to set up the modems they provide
to work with the popular consumer routers such as Linksys, Netgear, DLink, Belkin,
and etc.

Call the ISP's tech support and ask for the link to that kind of info, print it out
and away you go.

On the flip side of the coin, most consumer router manufacturers have pages on their support sites that provide the settings and details needed to set their units up to work on the systems of the major ISPs around the country.
