Problem sharing my 2nd external...

I just received a new external hard drive as a Christmas gift. This is my 2nd external hard drive. I copied all of my files from my old external to my new external and tried to share it on the network. Whenever I try to access the new external hard drive from my XP laptop, I get the dreaded " You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. Access denied. " message. I find this strange because my other external hard drive works perfectly on the network. Why would I be able to share 1, but not the other? I looked at the sharing permissions and made sure everything was identical, which they were. I turned off password protected sharing. I haven't been playing with the permissions so I know that I haven't checked anything. I just verified that the default settings were the same as my other external. I'm stumped. Have any ideas?
