There is a reasonable amount of discussion about this on sites that you can find
via your favorite search engine.

The easier way requires keeping the Mac disc in the computer at bootup, the much
harder way is to use boot code patches that enthusiasts have made available to integrate
into the Mac installation disc. Then there's the licensing issue--it's contrary
to the Mac Software Licensing Agreement to run OS X on any hardware that was not
sold by Apple.

It's much, much easier to use Apple's BootCamp utility to boot an Intel-based Mac
into running XP or Vista natively on the Intel hardware. As long as you purchase
or use a legitimate license for Windows (systembuilder/OEM or full retail), the Windows
EULA allows you to install it on Mac hardware just like any other hardware. Unfortunately,
this is the more expensive option, because (a) you need to buy a Mac computer that's
probably 25-50% pricier than a comparable Wintel box and (b) you have to buy an extra
Windows license.
