I followed your instructions, then restarted the computer and the same thing happened -- no internet connection until I right clicked on the network system tray icon, chose "Diagnose and Repair", and let it "automatically find a new IP address". The problem also has nothing to do with the firewall, because even with the firewall uninstalled, the same thing happened. Any other ideas? Thanks.
