Venom? Please. Just skepticism. I see no reason why an integrated 64-bit application
on a 64-bit operating system with 8 gigs of RAM and a high-end workstation graphics
card should have a problem with a relatively small image only 200+ MB in size. I
had already gone ahead and installed IrfanView to get around the issue since I've
used it commercially for viewing large tiff images of blueprints also in the 30,000px+
range.
To me, the issue still stands, though. Whether or not the problem I'm having with
the picture gallery app is a limitation of the program remains unanswered. My concern
is, if other people aren't having the same problem with the the picture gallery and
similarly-sized images, than that would indicate the program on my end has become
broken or corrupted and I need to re-install it or Windows as a whole, because it
may also be an indicator of other system problems, as it is an integrated system
application.
Without definitive specifications on the Photo Gallery application, and no indications
anywhere I've looked on the web about it having inherent limitations regarding image
and file size, I kind of have to assume that for some reason my particular application
is not functioning properly and using a third party app is not a solution for the
problem, only a work-around.
