SiSoft used to offer a trial version that would have the temp monitor features you
are looking for, 'If' they are compatible with your machine. I am sorry that you
got such a rude response from the manufacturer. Most of them are more liberal to
help. Ofter the E-Mail support is a little more liberal on rules about warranty and
helping people. It was because of that type of business that small stores make great
headway in the industry and turned into what is not call "Value Added Retailers".
They go further and reach out to help customers that buy their custom built machines.
You also get to see te person you are dealing with if you so desire.
At this point I am guessing you need a good cleaning, possibly a new fan, and probably
a new battery. We have in my area a company of stores that are called "Battery Plus"
that carry everything from car batteries to camera batteries and of course most common
computer batteries. See if you have something of that nature in your area. Again
you get local personalized service for your $. If the major companies won't take
care of their business then they will eventually go out of business as a number of
them have already found out.
