tried startup repair and fixboot and fixmbr commands and try to boot from hard disk
but get a blinking dos cursor in upper left corner. I found a forum post (without
clear solution) that describes exactly what I did:
"Okay. So apparently when you install Vista on a second partition with XP on the
first, Vista puts all the boot info on the XP partition!
So--without me knowing--I reformatted the XP partition and lost all the boot information."
except I did one more stupid thing, I not only formatted the XP partition, but I
combined it with the vista partition and "moved it to the left" using Gparted. So
now I have one big parition that I dont' even think has an MBR....
anyone know how to salvage this and boot into vista...I need my files! thanks
