What was your old computer?If it was an oem(Dell,Compaq) the sata controller might 
have been in AHCI mode which then would have made the disk dynamic similar to a raid 
array(dynamic vs basic).I have never switched one to a computer with the sata controller 
in ide mode so I don't know if this affects the ability to read the contents but 
it might have something to do with it.
