Getting Email Addresses in Alphabetical Order

I feel somewhat stupid asking this, but suddenly when I try to create an email message in Windows Mail the contact list is coming up in reverse order. i.e. names starting at the end of the alphabet are first. What I want is to see the first name of each contact in alphabetical order. I want to see Bill, Deb, Frank, Harry, Jim, Ken, Lewis, etc... Hope I stated this correctly. I have looked and looked at the views, tools, etc., and find this extremely confusing.
