Another thing yo can do is if you are willing to take personal control of your defraging
chores again you can shut down the automatic defraging. Check out the link below.
Many people say that you don't have to defrag anymore and that is only partially
true. Vista does it automatically on the fly and can really bog not only the general
operating down, but also your shutdown process if it is in the middle of a long write
sequence. Also because drives are so much faster and have large cache built in they
do a lot cleaner job of writing initially, but defrag is still necessary and can
eventually cripple your machine just like the old systems did.
